  1. "DON'T LIKE RELEASE? BUY THE DVD! ELSE, DON'T COMPLAIN! ANY OTHER PROBLEMS? DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT A DAMN THING. IT'S FREE! WHAT DID YOU DO TO DESERVE IT ANYWAY?"

    Fuck you, you dirty cunts.

  2. Yeah, you're really not going to gain any support from anyone other than hopeless white knights by taking a position like that. Sure, you're providing a free service and are under no obligation to keep doing so, but outbursts like this just add more bad blood to the whole system and burn more fans into critics.

It's your own decision to stand your ground or quit, but either way don't be an attention whore about it. Not that I'm surprised given your release model.

  3. #3 here again. You're also going to get a lot less pity when you're doing this on such a direct donation=translation method, as the quality is going to be held under much closer scrutiny even if the system is just for you to break even like other groups (if you're looking for a profit at all, then far more so) and your quality should be able to hold up under that scrutiny.

The drama queen response to a random hater (and really, who doesn't get those) is a massive show of insecurity for one thing, and a really easy way of stopping people from donating to you in the first place. Worse, if anyone does care sufficiently about your little outburst, your donation model and release quality is going to come under much stricter observation, so if you're not secure in what you do you're possibly just digging your own graves.

You should have just ignored the flamer like anyone sensible would do. Fanning the fire just plays straight into their hands.

  5. Another smartass in my blog?
"...TechnoGirls was the first to fansub solely on a openly solicited sponsorship basis. It seems to be a big thing
now. I guess that's good. I know some groups are soliciting for sponsors and not doing too well with it. But there's not too much choice if you don't have the resources otherwise...
Q: I think it was about a year from the time TG solicited sponsorship till the time they finally delivered Wedding Peach. I had serious doubts that it would be made.
A: Honestly, we struggled to get it done that whole time. I was dismayed myself at how powerless I was to make it happen faster. We went through 4 flaking-out translators before we got decent scripts. We started laying down tape before episode 3 was even translated, just to hurry it up. I made no promises about exactly when any volume would be done, because it was simply impossible to predict. As it turned out, Romeo went fastest, Peach went slowest. This was mostly due to the irregular, colloquial "bad" mod quasi-westernized Japanese spoken in Peach. It drives translators mad. I quickly learned to not permit sponsors beyond the next volume to be produced unless I was sure of the translation. Every episode with sponsorship will be subbed, or the money will be refunded. And anytime, on demand, the money will be refunded upon request of the original sponsor, if the translation isn't done yet. In terms of sponsored episodes, I think that Technogirls has DELIVERED more than any other fansubber. Maybe even more than all others combined. I consider sponsorship to be a type of commission, and take it very seriously. With regard to the Internet, though, none of us are so naive as to not know that sending donations to strangers can be risky. There are new "fansubbers" out there who've done nothing but pick an anime, make a web page, and ask for "donations" without showing that they are capable of anything at all. We didn't start getting any significant support until Romeo 1 was out and circulating, to prove we could make a fansub. I agree that it's foolish to send money to someone who's never made a fansub or distributed tapes before."

  6. Yes, but Technogirls put out a quality product, cared about the translation being both understandable and correct grammar, and did all their own work. These rips from bootlegs with the bad Engrish, while I'm sure you have to pay for them to order them and then rip them, do not stand up to that level of quality, so that's probably why you get all the hate. And then when you childishly react to the random hate by refusing to seed a series someone sponsored for you (and Konnichiwa Anne is still at 99% by the way, with no seeders), people react to that level of immaturity by disliking you even more. Sure, you're under no obligation to put anything out, but when you start a torrent and then refuse to seed it, particularly one someone paid money to get, no one else will want to donate to you if they are likely to receive such treatment. Do you not understand that the way you are acting is undermining what you're trying to accomplish? The people commenting in here are only trying to help you, but you are shooting yourself in the foot with your behavior. If you would just ignore the haters, and not create more hate with such awful comments such as "Don't complain about a damn thing. It's free! What did you do to deserve it anyway?" Yes, no one did anything to deserve any fansubs, or any free releases that are constantly released on Nyaatorrents, but you don't see Saizen or Frostii or ANBU saying things like that, because it would only instigate a flame war. Try to moderate your responses, and you might see less hateful comments on your blog. Just a helpful suggestion :)

  7. >Technogirls put out a quality product,
    ALL DEPENDS ON PRICE.

    >And then when you childishly react to the random hate by refusing to seed
    NOT YOUR BUSINESS, ADMIT IT.

    >The people commenting in here are only trying to help you
    PURE BULLSHIT!

    >. Try to moderate your responses, and you might see less hateful comments on your blog.
IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT TRUTH IS INSULTING!
